What Green Projects include ?

Clean Development Mechanism

The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) allows emission reduction (or emission removal) projects in developing countries to earn certified emission reduction (CER) credits, each equivalent to one tonne of CO2. These CERs can be traded and sold, and used by industrialized countries to meet a part of their emission reduction targets under the Kyoto Protocol. Read more...

Joint Implementation

The Joint Implementation (JI) is a mechanism that allows emission reduction (or emission removal) projects in developed countries listed in Appendix I to the UNFCCC to generate emission reduction units (ERU), each equivalent to one tonne of CO2. These ERUs can be traded and sold, and used by industrialized countries to meet a part of their emission reduction targets under the Kyoto Protocol. Read more...

Voluntary Emission Reductions

Voluntary Emission Reductions (VER) are greenhouse gas emissions reductions that are not required or mandated by any law or regulation or their scope is outside the scope of the eligible CDM/JI projects. Participants (companies or individuals) reduce GHG emissions on a voluntary basis and may choose from a few standards (e.g. The Gold Standard, VCS, VER+) that certifies achieved by the project emission reductions as VER credits. Apart from reducing their carbon footprint, project participans may sold or trade VERs on a similar basis as CERs and ERUs.
